Information From Netflix

How ideas are pitched to Netflix

If you have an idea for a show, film, game, or other project, you may be curious how to get it to Netflix.  Unfortunately, Netflix does not accept or review any materials (whether manuscripts, treatments, scripts, drawings, ideas, pics of rainbow-colored unicorns, etc.) that they do not specifically request.

Pitching an idea to Netflix

If you have an idea, game, script, screenplay, or production already in development that you’d like to pitch to Netflix, you must work through a licensed agent, producer, attorney, manager, or industry executive, as appropriate, who already has a relationship with Netflix. We are unable to share references for these resources.

If you do not have any of these resources available, Netflix will be unable to accept your unsolicited submissions.

How SMS Pitches To Netfix

As mentioned it is essential to have a live agent to work with as your mediator in seeking to secure a film deal. It is also important to mention, that this does take time. But when you purchased book rights, SMS Novel provides you with 5 local agents within 50 miles of your closest city. Also note, that agents may require up to 15% of any commission received from publication or film. SMS Novel will also provide you the template tools to make first contact and begin pitching.

Multiple Scripts Give You a Better Chance

Having one great script or story may not be enough. Think of it like playing the lottery, the more stories you have, the greater chance that certain your script could be selected. It also important to gain feedback from a writing agent, as to what scripts or stories are in demand.

While you work to find an agent, there are still amazing things that you can do gain momentum for your story. Your script or story can be turned into a local stage play, published as a Book, or hosted as an online book discussion that can gain traction for greater film consideration.
