In 2026 Santa Monica, Maya has accepted the inevitable. Facing a terminal illness that has exhausted all medical options, she retreats to the coast to spend her final months in the warmth of the sun rather than the cold light of a hospital room. She keeps her medical bag hidden in the sand, a secret weight she carries while forming an intense, soul-stirring connection with Christopher, a dedicated local lifeguard. To Maya, Christopher represents the life she is losing; to Christopher, Maya is the first person who has made him look past the horizon. However, the peace of their summer is shattered when the truth surface, transforming their romance into a desperate race against time as Christopher refuses to let her go without a fight.
